[cma-l] Charity limited company

Hi Claire,

A charity limited company is a body corporate. I can't see why Ofcom would
object to you transferring the license to a charity limited company,
although best to check.
It's a bit silly they ask you to ask the CMA what the companies they license
do ... they should know!
It's like a lawyer asking you to contact the Citizen's Advice Bureau to find
out what the law is... how unhelpful can you get?

If you want to set up charity to attract charitable funding, you can have
that kind of arrangement, and use the company as a trading arm for the
charity. There are advantages with VAT for charities too.

Most CMA members are limited companies, so I seem to remember, but some are
charitable companies and some are CIC's. But Ofcom, of all organisations,
should be able to give you that information!

Hope that helps,

Best,

Peter
