Community Channel launches user generated site

10:00am
The Community Channel is jumping on the video sharing bandwagon,
adding a user-generated element to its website.
Users of http://www.communitychannel.org/will be able to upload short
video clips from their camcorder or from a mobile phone to a section
of the site called YourCharitySpace.
The site allows users to share their thoughts on what charities and
causes they support, via a video clip or a blog, and also to comment
on other people's offerings.
The launch of YourCharitySpace coincides with National Giving Week
and the Community Channel has teamed up with the Charities Aid
Foundation to launch a competition calling on people to upload a
30-60 second video clip, saying what they're prepared to give up for
their favourite charity.
CAF will donate £1000 for the best video clip sent in every day
during National Giving Week, with the proceeds going to the winner's
charity of choice.
The 10 runners up will have their clips transmitted on Community
Channel. Community Channel's head of new media Wendy Stewart, said:
"We feel confident that this will become a popular meeting place for
individuals and organisations working in the charity sector."
