FourDocs Goes Femme For Halloween
FourDocs, the broadband channel for documentary, is calling for short
documentaries with compelling female subjects, with the best ones
being shown at a special event as part of the 4th Halloween Short
Film Festival in January 2007.
The films, which can be made by men or women, should be about women
who define their own terms, and the focus of the screening will be on
independence and DIY culture. We're interested in subjects who
surprise and surpass gender roles, whether involved with
traditionally male-dominated pursuits or by reclaiming traditionally
feminine activities. Films might be about women inspiring with their
independence now, or historical looks at ladies who've set the DIY
pace in their chosen vocation or art form.
Films must be documentaries, and ideally between three and five
minutes, in order for them to be screened on the FourDocs website as
well as at the Halloween festival. Submission is only via the upload
form on <http://www.channel4.com/fourdocs> www.channel4.com/
fourdocs . Longer documentaries on DIY women will also be considered
for the festival only via prior arrangement with Charlie Phillips at
fourdocs at channel4.com
Deadline for entries is Friday Nov 17th. Any queries, please email
fourdocs at channel4.com For full details of the Halloween Short Film
Festival see www.shortfilms.org.uk
