OneWorld/Staying Alive World AIDS Day 2004 Competition

A video and audio competition for those aged between 15 and 34. If you feel you
have something to say about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls using a
microphone or a camera - this is the perfect opportunity to show your potential.

For the second year running, MTV Staying Alive and One World are organising a
global competition in the run up to World AIDS day, and are looking for the
best PSA (public service announcement) in either video or audio.

So what do you have to do?

Create your very own public service announcement – one that you would actually
watch. A public service announcement (PSA) is an advert that isn’t selling a
product, but giving a useful message instead. The focus this year is women,
girls and HIV/AIDS.

Why Women?

Women and girls now account for nearly 50% of all new HIV infections worldwide,
particularly in the developing world. To make matters worse, women and girls do
not have enough accurate information on how HIV is transmitted or how they can
prevent infection.

The competition runs from 7th Sep - 11th November 2004.

The two winners - in the TV/video and Radio categories - win the Staying Alive
award! The winning entries will be streamed on the Staying Alive site, the One
World web sites, and on the UNAIDS site on World AIDS Day on 1st December
2004. PLUS the winner and second place runner-up of the video competition will
receive brand new DVD camcorders, courtesy of SONY. The winner and second
place runner-up of the audio competition will each win a SONY minidisc walkman.
