Internews® Network is an international media development organization
based in Arcata, CA and Washington, DC whose mission is to empower
local media worldwide to give people the news and information they
need, the ability to connect, and the means to make their voices
heard.

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Training and Project Manager is an experienced broadcast
professional who oversees and coordinates a cadre of beginning
journalists to build the managerial and journalistic capacity of
community radio stations in remote parts of Sudan and who designs,
implements and oversees all aspects of a comprehensive training
program, as well as assists the Country Director on overall program
development, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Manage all aspects of the community broadcast training program,
including programmatic supervision of up to 6 radio station managers
and oversight management of 25-30 radio journalists.
* Supervise the Resident Journalism Advisors and oversee the design
and implementation of their work and training plans.
* Assist the Country Director in managerial and administration tasks.
* Create and implement comprehensive training and monitoring plans to
ensure effective oversight of all stations.
* Organize workshops and train community radio managers and reporters
with limited experience on a variety of topics, with special emphasis
on radio station management and production.
* Lead in the development of training materials and handouts spanning
the basics of community radio journalism.
* Lead in the planning and implementation of comprehensive media
literacy trainings for CSO partners, government and political
officials.
* Work closely with the radio technical manager, logistics and finance
to keep stations organized, efficient and technically sound.
* Oversee the gathering of data for monitoring and evaluation
purposes, specifically radio station manger reports and program logs,
and including monthly listening groups, surveys, and other formats..
Ensure material is collated on a regular and timely basis.
* Document the achievements and challenges of the stations through
training reports, newsletter articles, website submissions and
photographs. Assist in networking and sharing the story of the Sudan
project with government officials, donors and other interested
parties.
* Ensure use of methods for radio stations to document their work,
including archiving their best audio, photographing their activities
and monitoring their progress.
* Continue to develop community radio station policies, structures,
and general operating procedures to ensure smooth and professional
running of the stations.  Train station management staff in these
procedures and ensure adherence to same.
* Travel to community radio station locations in remote regions of
southern Sudan and the Three Areas on a regular basis to provide
necessary guidance and oversee daily operations and programming
schedules of the radio stations.
* Manage the Internews Sudan internship program.
* Coordinate with Internews partner organizations and other NGOs to
facilitate creative program sharing and collaboration.
* Lead in the development of station advisory boards and income
generation plans.
* Assist with the development of proposals as needed for future
funding opportunities.
