[cma-l] A First for Community Radio?

I did see it on the itv news, but  why was it not put out in the email discussion list be for hand that you where going in to the school and talk to the interspace station  so that the ones the discussion list can hear it on line live also you do have on your community radio and you do have a website

Importance: High    Blowing our trumpet time!    We think this is a firstfor UK Community Radio...    This morning during ourBreakfast Show Radio Verulam in St Albans relayed a live link between localschool Sandringham and astronaut Tim Peake in the International Space Stationin the few minutes when the ISS passed over St Albans .    Several students wereable to ask Tim questions and get his answers before they lost signal.    It is worth mentioningthat this achievement by the school did not involve simply plugging into ESAprofessional communications facilities but instead a direct two way radio linkusing Amateur Radio equipment and a tracking satellite dish following the ISSacross the sky above St Albans for around 8minutes. I suspect not that many schools have such equipment ( Sandringham has  a thriving amateur radio club).    Around 1,000 schools acrossthe UK have applied to join the Principia project so many more will be doing somethingsimilar in the next few months - it might be worth seeing if you can dosomething with any schools local to you. But Sandringham was the first to do this and so Radio Verulam was first to relay it too!    And, by the way, BBC TVBreakfast was there at the school but completely missed the Q & As becausethey switched to a weather forecast as the connection was made.....!
