Breakfast Show Radio Verulam in St Albans relayed a live link between local
school Sandringham and astronaut Tim Peake in the International Space Station

that this achievement by the school did not involve simply plugging into ESA
professional communications facilities but instead a direct two way radio link
using Amateur Radio equipment and a tracking satellite dish following the ISS
across the sky above St Albans for around 8
minutes. I suspect not that many schools have such equipment ( Sandringham
has a thriving amateur radio club).</span></font></span></div>
