Hi Pippa

glad to be of service, this however was not rocket science to us but merely logic that made Asian Star have this ethos if you like. Volunteers simply cannot build an audience nor have the loyalty or drive to get you that show your station needs to get revenue. I believe every cr service needs to find a budget for presenters in order to maintain some professional order on air and get listeners which without you cannot survive.

I’d much rather be in the position to pay key presenters (breakfast & drive), rather than ask them for a contribution! I guess it boils down to the ethos of your station. Quality presenters will hold on to, and build an audience which appeals to advertisers. Asian Star have always worked that model and they have been very successful. They also taught me how to run a station .... which I am now applying at Wycombe Sound. Thanks Ray Cee!

Some stations also successfully raise money to keep the station going by making a small charge per show for volunteers to present the programmes.

Not putting myself forward for this (sorry) but I did wonder what a "community radio show rate" is?

We pay our presenters a small fee for the shows between Monday-Friday 7am-6pm, and I know other community stations don't.

Dear All,

We are looking for 4 to 6 weeks cover of our breakfast show 5 days a week 7am to 10am is anyone able to help?
Starting next week.

We do pay a community radio show rate for this, it would suit someone quite local to Heathrow as we are based in sunny Slough :)

If you are interested then you can contact myself or the station manager on info at asianstar1016.co.uk

Kind Regards
