Subject: [cma-l] The FM/AM split

I thought it might be useful to have some facts in support of the current
discussions.

These are abstracted from our own condensed version of Ofcom's published
TXParams data and are accurate and up-to-date to the best of my knowledge:

*	Total CR Licences issued = 253
*	Total CR transmitters licensed = 267
*	Number of stations currently on air = 217 (86%)
*	Licensed but not yet launched = 10
*	Licence issued but did not launch = 10
*	Launched but have ceased for any reason = 16
*	Total stations on AM = 7
*	AM stations with "standard" maximum 70W EMRP = 2
*	AM stations with more than 70W EMRP = 2
*	AM stations with less than 70W EMRP = 3
*	Total stations on FM = 210
*	FM stations using "standard" 25 + 25W ERP = 172 (82%)
*	FM stations using more than 25 + 25W = 34 (16%)
*	FM stations using less than 25 + 25W = 4 (2%)
*	FM stations using 25W vertical only = 152 (72%)
*	FM stations using balanced mixed polarity = 37 (18%)
*	FM stations licensed for but not using mixed polarity = 157 (75%)
*	FM stations licensed for four transmitters = 1
*	FM stations licensed for three transmitters = 3
*	FM stations licensed for two transmitters = 4
*	FM stations licensed for one transmitter = 245
