Hi All,
two things really...
1. If an artist is only saying Hi this is xyz .... another voice is used
for the station ident... id worry paying for this. Whats to say the
station itself cant get the so called bank of Hi this is xyz... etc and
then just add the last part from the voices from the station itself.
saves money.
2. That you actually have artists visit the station or that your
presenters were able to get press passes to events, where they were able
to interview and at the same time record the station jingle idents for
show etc.
in our case... option 2 is what has served us well over the years...
its not the be all end all having jingles and idents but they do fit
certain shows... and there isnt any harm. although we are selective the
idents we usually record form an artist/actor.actress etc.
eg:
Station Ident
breakfast and drivetime idents
chart show
and some specialized shows...
including .. Xmas/New year, Eid, Diwal, Holi etc
This summer we actually updated our main idents which had served us over
the last 8 years recorded by our volunteer/presenters for professional
voiceovers. Alongwith a coat of paint ... i guess its call evolution.
