I don’t think I was actually complaining as such
if we can have it for an
ickle-ish tickle-ish (a little tickle ££) then fine, we’ll give it a
go. I’m more interested in the timeline as to how we arrive at our
discussions and a bit of the Politics, because after all it is that which
determines whether we can afford things or not. No use if something is
fandabby-dozy, all singing all dancing and expensive
 the conversations are
completely pointless. For example, I might look at a four day trip to Berlin
or Oslo or Amsterdam which I have done because I fancied it and COULD AFFORD
IT
. I ain’t even going to bother looking at a World Cruise. However, if my
funds get better
work / savings etc then I might.

We need more chances to raise funding
.. it ain’t happening as we still
have restrictions.

I think we are heading for a tricky situation
 as more Stations come
on-board the fund dries up, grants a becoming less and less and yet we still
have a 50% rule
. Many will be in breach I reckon .. in other-words,
getting told off and they haven’t actually done anything wrong. I apologise
to everyone now for mentioning it yet again, but the word ‘debacle’ springs
to mind.

I’m convinced we could be in a pickle come next year as we have virtually
given up on grants
I have got better things to do with my life than waste
my time filling forms in. I reckon over ten years if you run hour by hour
I’m up to 4 months solid (at least) filling forms in.

Let’s see what prices the lads come up with :-)

Hi Nick

As well as for now. I never felt, during the demo or in any of the
follow-up, that this was a means to replace FM. So I don't think we should
get bogged down in that here. Let's look at this for what it is ... an
opportunity to trial an accessible form of digital radio.

5-6 years you only had the option to spend £12,000 to £20,000 in your first
year to get your single station on DAB. This smaller scale version is only
going to cost a fraction of that per service (up to six of course). Don't
knock it until we've 'trialled' it.

Sorry everyone for a rather Numpty-ish question, but if all this goes well
and ‘’’within’’ a Community Radio Budget are saying this would be an
‘’’AS-WELL AS’’’ or an ‘’’INSTEAD OF’’ ie:- either / or ???

I don’t see any benefit at all if you have to switch off FM and go just DAB

.just so folk don’t get selective memory loss I would like to point
out that the DAB discussion started about 5 – 6 years ago with the original
suggestion of ‘shifting’ all the Big Stations over, thus leaving FM for
Community Radio, which of course would mean a heck of a lot of Community
Radio.

Obviously the discussion has gone off on lots of different routes since.
Nowt wrong with that may I say
not complaining, just making a point

All the best everyone

Regards

Nick
