Thank you very much Richard.

Time certainly flies when you're having fun!

I came to the CMA after leaving HSBC as a mainframe operator. In the
Summer of 2000 I took part in my first RSL with SheffieldLive! and was
immediately enthused by community radio. The station operated out of a
small caravan in a local park and I was amazed at what could be
achieved on a shoe-string budget.

A vacancy arose for an IT Manager at the CMA which I'm glad I got :o)

Back in 2000 I think we had at least 20 staff and an office in London
and Scotland. Now we have a mere four staff.

Over the years funding has been reduced as it has for everybody in the
third sector and since 2007 the CMA has developed services to generate
unrestricted funds which has been great fun. Over the years Canstream
has supplied online media services to hundreds of community media
projects and we have also worked with the Orange Prize for Fiction,
Diesel Clothing, the Make Poverty History Campaign, Reuters, and the
Berkman Center for Internet & Society. Canstream also supplies
Internet radio for a number of overseas customers based on our
reputation for reliability, quality and service. We are also currently
in discussion with a major national brand to supply Internet radio -
but that is top secret!

The thing I enjoy most about the job is helping our members - whether
it's PPL, PRS or advice on business development. The next best things
are that no two days are the same and everyday is an opportunity for
learning.

Here's to the future - back to work now!

Best regards

Bill
