Music and Inclusivity Conference
A partnership project between York St John University, Accessible Arts
and Media and MusicLeader Yorkshire.
Saturday 5th November 10.00am-3.30pm
York St John University.
A conference to explore effective integration and true inclusion for all
within music and the arts. The day will include practical workshops,
presentations and discussion delivered by organisations and individuals
with experience and track record of excellence in this field.
It is a fact that people outside of the ‘mainstream’, particularly those
with disabilities - including physical disabilities, and communication
and learning difficulties - are often 'included' into arts work in ways
that are at best minimal, and at worst tokenistic.
The day will look at the theories, processes and means by which people
can be properly and effectively integrated/ fully included into music
and the arts.
The conference will provide an invaluable opportunity for establishing
and disseminating best practice in inclusive ways of working for
emerging and existing music leaders, education and arts professionals
and community providers.
It promises to be a fascinating exploration of an important current
issue in the arts, education and the wider community.
