Hi All,

I/We have discussed the concept of a community radio awards on an off for
the last few months, I have approached a few people (with experience of the
Student Radio Awards) and have put together a team that I feel confident
will be able to run and organise awards and an awards presentation / event.

The first steps we want to go through is to survey managers, trustees,
senior volunteers, presenters and everyone and anyone involved in community
radio to get their thoughts on some ideas around process, categories and the
event. as such I want to send the following around to you all for you to
consider and fill in, and also to pass on to your station and anyone you
think might be interested.

The only thing I ask is that if you have any questions, concerns etc you
email me direct (martin at martinsteers.co.uk) as I dont want to draw out any
negative / critical discussions on the mailing list at this stage. I want
everyone to approach the survey on the awards with an open mind so we get
peoples honest response.

My thanks and I look forward to your feedback.

Martin

Dear Community Radio

I have been involved for a few years in Community Radio and really feel that
its a fantastic sector, and that every day presenters, producers and
volunteers produce fantastic quality shows and material, engage and support
their community, produce great social gain and really are at the heart of
their community. What we need to do is really highlight and praise the good
work that these people do, as well as recognise and reward those that are
involved.

The Community Radio Awards are being set-up to hopefully do just this,
organised by a small team independently from the CMA, with experience of
running the Student Radio Awards, event management and Community Radio, the
aim is to create a recognised and structured awards that will highlight
those in the sector as well as providing an opportunity to really promote
the positives and the best of Community Radio.

The first stage is to get feedback and thoughts on our initial proposals and
ideas and use this feedback to finally shape the first awards which we hope
to launch in the next month or so, we have a survey that we are asking
everyone and anyone to fill in which can be found here: http://goo.gl/UiHty

My thanks
