[cma-l] Internet radios - are they any good?

Being very much a "radio" man - and it has to be said of course that internet on its own is not "radio" - any reception of an internet source will require some sort of RF linkage if your equipment is not physically connected to a landline.

Wifi is perfectly acceptable - but its range is very limited.

Unreliable if you're walking any distance and useless in a vehicle.

GSM (mobile phone networks) is again fine as long as you "have a signal" and you can accept the radiation hazards - I don't.

Proper radio is best and almost totally reliable.

Very very few ordinary consumers want to listen to world-wide or even nation-wide radio when they're on the move.

The ones that do will certainly be a niche market for suitable equipment.

Why spend a lot of time trying to fix what ain't broke?
