[cma-l] Ofcom Awards Community Radio Licence

Ofcom has announced the award of one new community radio licence in
Reading. This forms part of the South East licensing round (excluding
areas within the M25).  The licence has been awarded to:

1 Ummah FM, Reading
Website: http://www.1ummahfm.co.uk

1 Ummah FM will serve the Muslim community of Reading. It will seek to
promote the community's general welfare by aiding it in accessing
information and services offered by public and private institutions,
and aims to enhance wider community cohesion through promoting
discussion and debate. The service will be multilingual, but
predominantly in English.

The licence has been awarded for a five-year period.

A statement setting out the main determining factors for the award of
the community radio licence referred to above will be published in the
radio licensing section of Ofcom's November Communications Monthly
Update.
