The Youth of Today initiative is offering six "third sector
apprenticeships" for young people. The Youth of Today works with
young people to help them become leaders through training and
networking, both with their peers and with people in power.

The organisation is funded by the Department for Children, Schools and
Families and the Department of Communities and Local Government, and
is managed by a range of groups including Changemakers, Prince’s
Trust, British Youth Council, National Youth Agency, Citizenship
Foundation, UK Youth Parliament and the Young Foundation.

The apprenticeships offered will give young people the opportunity to
work within the charity sector and gain real life experience with a
local youth or community organisation. Apprentices will also gain a
range of qualifications, including an NVQ Level 2 in Youth Work.

Applicants will need to have experience of working in a youth work
setting on a paid or voluntary basis. The role will involve:

    * Assisting in the planning and delivery of sessions and
activities for children and young adults in the community.
    * Assisting in undertaking outreach work in the community to
promote youth activities and ensure maximum take-up.
    * Liaising appropriately with service users, parents, volunteers and staff.
    * Working alongside the Youth of Today’s consortium partners.

Eligible applicants must be:

    * Between 17 and 19 years of age.
    * Committed to a career in youth work.
    * Have basic IT skills including word processing.
    * Self motivated.
    * Willing to participate in training to achieve qualifications in
youth work.

The closing date for applications is 11 November.
