[cma-l] Proposed Discussion with Ben Bradshaw, Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport

Sustainability is the theme of tomorrow's Community Media Policy
Workshop run by London Metropolitan University (see yesterday's posting
by Donald McTernan), so the latest exchanges about what to say to Ben
Bradshaw are useful.

But I would be grateful for any suggestions about two other points that
we could feed directly into tomorrow's London-based discussion.

(1) what other Departments of government are currently offering funding
through programmes that have relevance to community media? (Usually
these are directed via local authorities)Details and deadlines, please.
I know we get a notices of these from the CMA (and many thanks, CMA, for
these), but they are hard to keep track of. What would be anyone's TOP
THREE sources?

(2) what about aspirant groups? Is there anything available which could
help a group fund the work that has to go into making an application? Of
course most of this is the voluntary effort of those concerned, but
often there's a need to pay for legal, financial or engineering advice,
or for a hall to hold a public meeting etc.
