WHAT ARE THE NEW MEDIA AWARDS?
The Atos Origin/New Statesman Awards celebrate and reward those that are
using innovations in information and communication technology to help
transform our society.  The focus of this year's awards is how joined up
government is achieved and delivered to connected communities.

CALLING ALL YOUNG INNOVATORS
This year we have a new category with a £500 prize. Maybe you run an
online magazine or radio show. Maybe your project is not internet
related.  We are looking for creative and innovative young people who
are involved in new media projects that contribute to society.

With regular updates from top new media journalist Mike Butcher and
topics such as 'China's convenient Internet addiction' and 'Will the Net
balance out US politics?' our blog is not to be missed.

ANNOUNCING THE 2007 JUDGES
This year's judging panel includes some of the most highly regarded and
renowned players in new media. Matthew Cashmore, developer and producer
BBC Backstage; Mandy Berry, Director, 01Zero-One and Mike Butcher,
freelance journalist and a new media expert; have happily agreed to be
part of the selection panel for the 2007 winners. Further judges will be
announced in the next update.

EVENTS
We will be running a series of events to discuss some of the hottest
topics in new media and government. Don't worry, there will also be time
for drinks and socialising. More news about upcoming events will be
announced in the next update and on the New Media Awards website
