Radio Training Manager, RadioReverb

Location: South East, Brighton

Paid (£20k-25k pro rata) Part time

*Job description*

   - To devise a programme of radio training workshops, including
   interviews, vox pops, documentaries and features; programme presentation;
   mixing desk operation; news; radio drama production;
   - To deliver the training where appropriate, or commission external
   trainers where needed;
   - To devise a programme of workshops ranging from short ‘taster’
   sessions to longer ongoing training, targeted at different sections of the
   local community;
   - To produce training manuals and toolkits;
   - To assess the training needs of different sections of the community
   and to devise workshops appropriate to each target group;
   - To publicise workshops appropriately.

*Person specification*

   - The ability to generate training plans appropriate for different
   social and cultural groups;
   - Proven track record in radio training to people from diverse
   backgrounds;
   - Confident communication and presentation skills;
   - The ability to train people in a wide range of radio skills, from
   presenting to documentary making and desk operation;
   - Knowledge of local radio and training markets, station and programme
   styles, and audience demographics;
   - The capacity to work effectively under pressure, react quickly, and
   meet deadlines;
   - Strong planning and organisational skills;
   - Determination, diplomacy and excellent interpersonal skills;
   - A facility for managing creative teams, and encouraging acceptable
   creative risk taking;
   - The ability to coach, and to develop talent in others;
   - The ability to give and receive feedback, and manage performance;
   - The ability to deal effectively with trainees of differing
   temperaments and morale;
   - Self-motivation and adaptability;
   - A thorough knowledge of the law, ethics and industry regulation as
   they affect radio production;
   - A good knowledge of Brighton & Hove’s community and voluntary sector.
