 *LOTTERY CASH HELP PETERBOROUGH COMMUNITY RADIO PROJECT TAKE OFF THE GROUND

Peterborough Community Radio celebrates the New Year with cash from the
Lottery announced today – The Big Lottery Fund has awarded £117,256, under
its Reaching Communities programme to PACO – The charity behind the project.

The money will be used to pay for the salaries of a project manager and
community involvement officer. It will also pay for studio and recording
equipment, contribution to overheads, consultancy and advice over two years,
providing radio-based learning and volunteering opportunities for local
people as well as supporting local community and voluntary organisations to
better promote their work and services.

Peterborough Community Radio project has been running for over two years and
has so far involved over 100 local people in producing exciting local radio
programmes for the Peterborough community.

Clifford Muchemeyi, PACO Chairperson said:

*"Peterborough African Community Organisation (PACO) is very excited about
the opportunity to expand our Community Radio Project through the support of
the Big Lottery Fund Reaching Communities Programme. This grant will help us
to train more volunteers, involve more young people, engage more residents
and deliver to more isolated groups in Peterborough through our broadcasts
service. *

*The Community Radio has had great successes in reaching isolated
communities. The support of Big Lottery Fund will enable us to develop the
project and guarantee the future of Community Radio service in
Peterborough". *
