Ever wanted to read the news on a radio station+?

Yes! Then Takeover Radio can help...

Starting in January 2008 Takeover Radio will be running a BTEC National
Award course in Radio Journalism.

The course will cover a variety of topics including: producing news
bulletins, compiling a speech package, interviewing and editing
programmes. Students may even read the news live on Takeover Radio!

No radio experience is needed - just an enthusiasm for broadcasting. To
qualify for a free place on the course participants need to be over 16
and not in full time further education.

This course is aimed at shift workers, mums, and anyone who is available
during the day and wishes to have a go at news broadcasting!

The course is run in association with South Leicestershire College and
is financed by the Learning and Skills Council. For more information and
an application form email news at takeoverradio.com or ring 0870 12 12 567

BACKGROUND
Takeover Radio Children's Media Trust has been training young people to
produce and present their own radio programmes since 2001. We are now
offering this training to the wider community in Leicester.

The Trusts philosophy is to offer the young people the experience within
a professional environment.

In late 2001 Takeover Radio took part in the pilot project organised by
the then Radio Authority called Access Radio, this was to identify the
constraints and benefits of operating a community radio licence. This
involved us running a full time radio station for young people for 12
months, the project was so successful that it was extended for a further
3 years and we have now have a full 5 year community licence by Ofcom.

Takeover Radio helping to better your career!
