Hiya Nick,

Whats coming into effect from the 25th of May this year is the enforcement
of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations).

In essence, it regulates how we capture, store and use data that we collect
on individuals (Business to Business is slightly different).

Basically, if we capture data from individuals, it has to be accurate, it
has to be correct (eg only data you actually need), it has to be stored and
used securely and correctly.

The big one that everyone is stressed out about is electronic mailing lists
(Which actually comes more under PECR - a different set of regulations),
for those people have to opt in and give consent to be emailed for
marketing and promotional reasons. - thats why you are getting loads of
messages asking you to reconsent for mailing lists.

Business to Business is slightly different.

I would recommend contacting your local CVS or community training
organisation and see if they are doing GDPR training, I went one some
recently and it was very useful.

I would also recommend looking at the NVCO materials
