COMMUNITY RADIO NETWORKING & INFORMATION DAY

103 The Eye is holding its second annual Community Radio Networking And
Information Day in Melton Mowbray on *Saturday, 16 April 2016* and those
involved in the sector are very welcome to attend.

This follows the success of the inaugural event held last year by the
award-winning station which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary
<http://www.commedia.org.uk/news/2015/11/103-the-eye-10th-birthday/> of
broadcasting to the Vale of Belvoir on the Leicestershire-Nottinghamshire
border.

The Networking & Information Day is aimed at directors and managers of
community radio stations - those already broadcasting on FM, AM or DAB and
those who have been awarded Ofcom licences but are not yet on the air.

Speakers will highlight the latest developments in the sector during the
formal session in the middle of the day. The rest of the time consists of
informal networking so attendees can exchange information and advice, and
share good practice on a wide variety of topics - from financial, legal and
technical issues to programme material and recruitment of volunteers.

Addressing the meeting will be Bill Best from the Community Media
Association <http://www.commedia.org.uk/>, Dom Chambers representing the
newly-formed Community Radio Foundation and the Radio Academy
<http://www.radioacademy.org/> Partners Group, and Danny Lawrence from
the South-East
Radio Hub <https://www.facebook.com/Radiohubgroup> which launched recently.

Speakers also include representatives from BBC local radio and the
Birmingham City University School of Media - who will host this year's
Community
Media Conference
<http://www.commedia.org.uk/news/2016/03/save-the-date-saturday-10th-september-the-community-media-conference-2016/>
in September and are involved in Ofcom's small-scale DAB trials - and the
main sponsors of our event, J L Morris (Insurance Brokers) Ltd
<http://www.jlmorris.co.uk/insurance/community-radio-insurance.php> who
specialise in community radio insurance.

Broadcast and studio engineers will demonstrate some of the latest
equipment and provide advice on technical matters. In addition, individual
radio stations can share their success stories with particular emphasis on
innovative ways of generating income and there will be exhibition space
where they can mount a small display if they wish.

The Networking Day takes place in the Civic Suite at Melton Borough
Council's Parkside <https://goo.gl/maps/No9eWUMo8T82> offices, in Burton
Street, next to Melton railway station. Doors open at 10 am for informal
networking and the speaker session begins at 11.45 am with a civic welcome
from Melton's Mayor Councillor Jeanne Douglas who is also a presenter on
103 The Eye.

There's a complimentary buffet lunch and the afternoon networking session
runs until 4.30 pm. The event is free to attend, but attendees must book a
place.
