<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr">COMMUNITY RADIO NETWORKING & INFORMATION DAY<br><br>103 The Eye is holding its second annual Community Radio Networking And Information Day in Melton Mowbray on <b>Saturday, 16 April 2016</b> and those involved in the sector are very welcome to attend.<br><br>This follows the success of the inaugural event held last year by the award-winning station which recently <a href="http://www.commedia.org.uk/news/2015/11/103-the-eye-10th-birthday/" target="_blank">celebrated its 10th anniversary</a> of broadcasting to the Vale of Belvoir on the Leicestershire-Nottinghamshire border.<br><br>The Networking & Information Day is aimed at directors and managers of community radio stations - those already broadcasting on FM, AM or DAB and those who have been awarded Ofcom licences but are not yet on the air.<br><br>Speakers will highlight the latest developments in the sector during the formal session in the middle of the day. The rest of the time consists of informal networking so attendees can exchange information and advice, and share good practice on a wide variety of topics - from financial, legal and technical issues to programme material and recruitment of volunteers.<br><br>Addressing the meeting will be Bill Best from the <a href="http://www.commedia.org.uk/" target="_blank">Community Media Association</a>, Dom Chambers representing the newly-formed Community Radio Foundation and the <a href="http://www.radioacademy.org/" target="_blank">Radio Academy</a> Partners Group, and Danny Lawrence from the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Radiohubgroup" target="_blank">South-East Radio Hub</a> which launched recently.<br><br>Speakers also include representatives from BBC local radio and the Birmingham City University School of Media - who will host this year's <a href="http://www.commedia.org.uk/news/2016/03/save-the-date-saturday-10th-september-the-community-media-conference-2016/" target="_blank">Community Media Conference</a> in September and are involved in Ofcom's small-scale DAB trials - and the main sponsors of our event, <a href="http://www.jlmorris.co.uk/insurance/community-radio-insurance.php" target="_blank">J L Morris (Insurance Brokers) Ltd</a> who specialise in community radio insurance.<br><br>Broadcast and studio engineers will demonstrate some of the latest equipment and provide advice on technical matters. In addition, individual radio stations can share their success stories with particular emphasis on innovative ways of generating income and there will be exhibition space where they can mount a small display if they wish.<br><br>The Networking Day takes place in the Civic Suite at <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/No9eWUMo8T82" target="_blank">Melton Borough Council's Parkside</a> offices, in Burton Street, next to Melton railway station. Doors open at 10 am for informal networking and the speaker session begins at 11.45 am with a civic welcome from Melton's Mayor Councillor Jeanne Douglas who is also a presenter on 103 The Eye.<div><br>There's a complimentary buffet lunch and the afternoon networking session runs until 4.30 pm.
