I wrote my own little app that uses a wavecom modem and writes into a database. And then I have a page that shows text line by line It's a fairly cheap outlay. You can also get commercial software that does the same.
Search for and gateway software.
Otherwise hosted platform I don't really have any to recommend as I don't use any
