[cma-l] Community Radio Joint Music Licence

Good afternoon

As Ofcom publishes in the announcement of awards of community radio
licences, Ofcom pays attention to existing commercial radio services:

Ofcom was satisfied that none of the new services would prejudice unduly
the economic viability of any local analogue commercial radio service
(section 105(3) of the BA 1990).

It would therefore appear that the Radiocentre is unlikely to have little
forward traction with Ofcom regarding their apparent concerns about the
continued growth of our sector.

The CMA is currently in discussion with Ofcom with regard to the economic
viability of existing community radio services when awarding community
radio licences.

The CMA Chair will also shortly be meeting with Siobhan Kelly, CEO of
Radiocentre and this matter will be taken up with them at the earliest
opportiunity.

Best regards

Bill Best
