Ive been slightly more descriptive than this Paul. I basically just ignore
them now because I am sick to death of dealing with people who cant
understand plain and simple English nor understand the meaning in this text
of the word net all of our net is = zero / nil / zilch /
diddly squat / nada.
I believe (but dont quote me on it) the reason there was a bottom line Fee
agreed was for this very reason. So, all this in mind, why do we have to
report back to them apart from the fact that we play about 9 songs per-hour
and I have told them that if this changes I will let them know. The key (if
talking money) is how much of their music are we playing
. Whether we get
£200 quid from the Local Solicitor or have a barter and contra deal with the
Local Milkman is irrelevant and furthermore is none of their business !
I dont ask how much they receive, Im not interested, although you say it
is on Wikipedia
. Nor am I interested in how much Elton John or Rod Stewart
receive.
We pay standing order for both, not because I agree with it (you know my
feelings on this, I believe we should be invoicing them) but more to do
with getting the Monkeeeeeee off our back.
To be honest, if they are getting £175 K out of us, my advice to them would
be go and crawl over there in the corner and keep quiet
You also fill forms in, but if ones figures start going backwards and
downhill faster than a greased Pig, the Fee rise doesnt change
as you
say, it goes up. Its all applying rules when it suits.
I dont have anything to do with them now, I dont fill any forms in apart
the one they had a few years ago
our report is Nothing to report / mind
your own business yes, I actually wrote that :-) LOL
Weve even had the big chump from the Ivory Towers contacting us
. I think
he needs to change his Bentley this year so hes panicking.
Sadly, like most of all the other rules and regulations in this game
. Its
a nonsense.
How not-for-profit / charities report on not-for-profit = zeros apart from
writing zeros confuses me ?? if a gross figure payment is made by the
Local Chippy it is still irrelevant and none of their business.
I do not give a flying cactus about the PRS/PPL
. In fairness, I find the
PRS slightly better and more understanding than PPL
.. they have completely
lost the plot.
Back to the grind
Wrighty
By the way, we have had 3 sponsors pull on us over the past couple of months
weve got 4 new ones on, but those that left were on a higher tariff.
Perhaps if I report on that theyll give us a refund ?
er ? not !

I've completed the form but my questions are:
1. Why do fees rise above the rate of inflation every year?
2. About 20 years ago I seem to remember PRS or PPL (or both) would waive
their fee for genuine not-for-profit stations undertaking RSL broadcasts.
Why can't PRS and PPL do the same today for the community radio sector? The
amount of money raised is negligible. Based on information in the public
domain, I estimate that the whole of the UK's community radio sector
contributes 0.02% of PRS's total income.
[Approx £175k from community radio against a staggering £623m which was
PRS's income in 2009 according to Wikipedia]
I'm sure lots of other people will ask the same, and I doubt I'll get much
joy but I think it's worth a punt from all of us.
