Soundart Radio 102.5FM is holding a two day event of listening, walking,
and sound recording.

The Dartington based camp will be one of fourteen Soundcamps taking place
around the world, from as close by as Bridport in Dorset, to as far flung
as Estonia, Ontario and Tasmania. They are linked by Reveil: a 24 hour
broadcast of the sounds of daybreak, relayed live by audio streamers around
the globe.

Reveil starts in Rotherhithe near the Greenwich Meridian and travels West
from one open microphone to the next, following the wave of sound that
loops the earth with the rising sun, picking up audio feeds from forests,
very low frequency receivers, deep ocean hydrophones, urban centres and a
network of soundcamps and streamers, in a sequence lasting one earth day.

Soundcamp at Dartington will run from Friday evening, 29th April, until
Sunday afternoon, 1st May. The event is for adults only, as it is a time of
quiet reflection, late nights, early mornings and long walks. Sound
recordist Tony Whitehead of Very Quiet Records will be running workshops in
field recording techniques, using a wide variety of specialist equipment
used to capture the sounds of nature. Sarah Gray will be leading sessions
in Somatics, the practice of listening to our bodies. The event will
include broadcasting live on radio stations around the world, and an early
morning walk into Totnes to watch Dartington Morris, as they dance at
Totnes Castle to celebrate May Day.

This is the third year we have been involved with Soundcamp, a worldwide
event that is steadily growing. One of the things we love about community
radio is being able to listen deeply to the sounds and voices on our
doorstep, and share that experience with people around the world. It's so
rewarding to make these invisible connections with people and places
everywhere.

The event has a limited number of places, and needs to be booked in
advance. We are asking participants to contribute £25 towards camping and
refreshments. Email info at soundartradio.org.uk for more information or to
book a place.
