This September and October, England will host Rugby World Cup 2015
<http://www.rugbyworldcup.com/>. Three of the tournament’s matches will be
played at the Sandy Park <http://www.rugbyworldcup.com/venues/sandy-park>
ground in Exeter.

With support from Exeter City Council
<http://www.exeter.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=9723>, Phonic FM
<http://www.phonic.fm> is inviting proposals for original creative audio
portraits of Exeter and its communities, in some way exploring the reach
and influence of the Rugby World Cup 2015 matches in the city.

These audio portraits will be broadcast on Phonic FM around the time of the
matches at Sandy Park. They will also be posted online, shared with other
broadcasters and deposited for posterity with various libraries and
archives.

A fee of *£750* will be paid for each commissioned work. Four works will be
commissioned.

The Rugby Stories project aims to:

   - Produce a lasting, creative audio portrait of Exeter and its citizens,
during the city’s moment on the world stage
   - Provide a platform for personal stories that may not otherwise be heard
   - Provide opportunities for:
      - communities, Phonic FM members and artists – to engage with
      one-another
      - communities and artists – to gain insight into the radio production
process and get involved with community radio
      - Phonic FM members – to further develop their own radio production
skills and discover new ways of working
      - Phonic FM – to forge new links (and strengthen existing links) with
      communities and artists
   - Stimulate an artistic interest in radio; promote radio as a site for
   creative experimentation

The deadline for proposals is 5pm BST on *Friday 12 June 2015*. Four
proposals will be selected by an invited panel of arts, broadcast and
community representatives, to be developed into hour-long works for
broadcast this autumn.
