How long I wonder before someone issues a legal challenge to the assertion "there are limited FM frequencies available".The sad truth unfortunately is that Ofcom is not prepared to look for them.

Ofcom has confirmed the successful applicants for short-term restricted service licences for June and July 2015.

Ramadan falls within this period and Ofcom received a large number of applications to run radio stations at this time. As there are limited FM frequencies available, Ofcom allocated the licences by way of a draw.

In addition, Ofcom held a draw for broadcasters wishing to cover the Hajj religious festival in the Bradford area during September 2015.

Details of the successful applicants, and a recording of the draws, are available on Ofcom’s website.
