Dear All

I always feel so sorry for those who get refused
. Perhaps I’m just a big
softy at heart

.what about offering all those who have been refused
and knocked back the DAB option ??? of course, there
will be some who over the years have been knocked back because basically
they appear as if they couldn’t run a raffle or they might be running
something that would be way off-piste to what is required, but there must be
some genuine cases who possibly ‘have been refused’ for basically having no
space on the spectrum.

I think a classic example in our area are the two down the road in Crewe and
Nantwich The Cat / Red Shift for different reasons I
personally think they are both worthy and deserve a licence
.they operate
slightly differently and do give a wider option
I feel sorry for Red Shift
guys and girls. There must be a way of getting round this so that ALL of us
are happy bunnies.

Just a thought, that’s all

. Or am I trying to live in a Utopia again ?

Please please please though can we NOT throw into the mix the objection or
question that the commercial boys are having their businesses attacked
.
I’ve kinda had my fill on that one and it’s now got rather tiresome and
played out. They just need to do what we have to do basically ‘’just
get on with it’’

Also on a final note, I may have to eat a bit of Humble Pie. Brian and
myself are doing our reports at the moment, and if you include the 50% rule
as a positive (maybe sounds a bit daft) but look at it outwards instead of
inwards and use the website to its full capacity that splits your income by
half, if you then half it again for your allowance, include the £15,000
tickle / limit and bung in your volunteer hours (well done to Bill & Dom &
Jackie on that one) the deal isn’t quite now as bad as I have possibly
painted

HUMBLE PIE Indeed

Of course my very strong opinions on the ones who after the £15,000 can’t do
any on-air advertising at all, still remain, and it isn’t acceptable. If the
DCMS can shift that one then we might all be able to do a rather fast limp
at least

Nick

Ofcom always releases Community Radio Licence Awards in batches.
Usually after the final batch for a given region it will say that Licences
were not awarded to the remaining named Applicants.

It does not give reasons apart from alleged non-availability of spectrum -
but there is a growing opinion that it should be required to do so.

Our personal congratulations go to Mike at Secklow, Chris and Darren at MK
and Terry at NNBC - all of whom have asked previously for our contribution
to their projects - and of course to our old friend from back in Youth FM
days, Tony Gillham at the Black Cat.

hi tony,

unlikely for ofcom to ever release why a license was refused but also this
doesnt indicate any were refused, ofcom is releasing some licenses in this
"area" bit by bit.. I think we have already had some released.

The applicants list for this round was around 16 - it will be interesting to
see why so many were refused.
