Ofcom is inviting licence applications for community radio licences in
South East England, excluding the area inside the M25.

Community radio services are provided on a not-for-profit basis, focusing
on the delivery of specific social benefits to a particular geographical
community or a community of interest.

Ofcom is making changes to its process in response to feedback from the
sector and potential applicants. As a result, Ofcom will not exclude areas
from the applications process on the basis of FM frequency availability as
it has done in the past.

Ofcom is setting out guidance on the availability of suitable frequencies
in different parts of the South East.

It is also making some changes to its assessment process. After checking
site suitability and frequency availability, Ofcom plans to assess each
remaining application against further criteria.

*The closing date for receipt of applications is 5 pm on Tuesday 20 October
2015.*
