Resonance, London's extraordinary, multiple award-winning arts-focused
broadcast platform, announces the launch of a new DAB service – Resonance
Extra – in Brighton and Hove.

The 24/7 radio station starts broadcasting on Tuesday 1st December 2015 at
2pm, becoming the latest addition to the Brighton and Hove Radio digital
multiplex.

With a focus on new music, sound art and experimentation, Resonance Extra
offers a distinctive and offbeat mixture of shows by the likes of The Wire
magazine, whose Adventures in Music and Sound is a by-word for intelligent
eclecticism; artist Bob and Roberta Smith, whose Make Your Own Damn Music
is a haven of ramshackle charm; international contributors, including
Russian multimedia artist Ilia Rogatchevski, whose early morning show
offers global ambient (post-rave) music; Dennis De Caires, whose Down
Underground covers the fringes of Australia's experimental electronic music
scene; and Radio Cascabel, showcasing the most vibrant new sounds from
Latin America. There's also an emphasis on young and emerging talent, with
weekly six-hour Residencies, providing an in-depth platform for musicians
to showcase their sounds. An Open Call for Broadcast Proposals spreads the
net still wider, asking all and sundry to contribute to the station's
wide-ranging brief.

23 year old Resonance Extra programmer and University of Sussex graduate
Peter Lanceley says: “I am thrilled to get this unique and exciting project
off the ground and to bring innovative sounds from around the globe to a
city renowned for its new music.” Brighton and Hove Radio chair Daniel
Nathan is equally enthusiastic: “It’s very exciting that the technology we
developed and tested here in Brighton is opening up the airwaves to radical
innovation and experimentation of the kind we will enjoy from Resonance
Extra.”

With its website extra.resonance.fm created by With Associates, images
provided by brilliant young Brighton photographer Jamie Orlando Smith, a
logo by Adrian Shaughnessy of the Royal College of Art, and station idents
by special guest musicians including Matthew Herbert and Howlround,
Resonance Extra is also a model of savvy design.

Listen on DAB in Brighton and Hove or on line at extra.resonance.fm from
Tuesday 1st of December at 2pm!
