Bradford’s Community Radio station, BCB106.6fm, hosted a visit from BBC
‘top brass’ on Friday 25th April. The Director General of the BBC, Tony
Hall, was accompanied by the BBC Controller of English Regions, David
Holdsworth (Bradford born) and Helen Thomas Head of BBC Yorkshire as well
as Rozina Breen (Managing Editor) and other staff from BBC Radio Leeds.

The two BBC senior staff were in the region for the day and came to
Bradford particularly to look at the partnership work that was taking place
in the city. BCB 106.6fm has been developing partnership work with the BBC
over the last few years and the senior BBC staff were keen to find out how
that was working out.

The visit lasted an hour and they met with BCB staff and volunteers as well
as an in depth discussion with the BCB Director Mary Dowson

Mary says ‘It was a great honour to host the visit. We were delighted that
Tony Hall and David Holdsworth wanted to come to Bradford and see
BCB106.6fm Community Radio in action. They were really interested in how we
all worked and impressed with what we were able to achieve with
comparatively little resource’.

Mary added: ‘Since the BBC studio in the National Media Museum closed, I
know that the BBC is keen to ensure that Bradford stories are still well
covered by the BBC. BBC Radio Leeds has just appointed a new political
reporter for Bradford who is now based with us here at BCB and the ‘My
Bradford’ project based with Bradford City of Film’.
