I would seriously suggest that potential Licence Applicants in: • Bury St Edmunds and surrounding area of Suffolk; • Cambridge;• Central Bedfordshire;• Hertfordshire;• Luton;• Southend on Sea; • Southern and western Essexstrongly contest the assertion that there are "currently no suitable FM frequencies available for community radio services" in those areas and that "a number of suitable medium wave (AM) frequencies may be available for community radio services".The word "suitable" is significant here - and unexplained.

Ofcom invites licence applications for community radio licences
in the East of England, Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes.

Community radio services are provided on a not-for-profit basis,
focusing on the delivery of specific social benefits to a particular
geographical community or a community of interest.

Ofcom can award five-year community licences on either the FM (VHF)
waveband or the AM (medium wave) band for the East of England,
Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes. However, there are parts of this
region where suitable FM frequencies are not available and licences
cannot be offered.

Applications for community licences for these areas must be received by 5pm on 16 December 2014.The invitation document may be downloaded from Ofcom's website here:
http://licensing.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/radio/community/thirdround/Invitation_East_of_England_Sep14.pdfThe timetable for inviting applications for community radio licences from the remaining regions is published here:
