*Youth radio tutor required*



Reprezent is an award-winning social enterprise that improves the life
chances of young people through accredited skills training, social
development and via our London-wide youth-led radio station, Reprezent
107.3FM.



We are seeking freelance tutors to be part of Reprezent’s expanding youth
programme. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and energetic radio
tutor, with a background in youth or community work. You will be flexible
and have excellent communication skills, with a proven track record of
working with NEET young people or those in other hard to reach groups. You
will be working on a sessional basis.



*Main Duties*



   - Design and deliver outreach activities such as radio demonstrations
   and workshops to engage local young people on the project
   - Produce detailed and relevant plans for youth radio courses in a
   timely manner that meet course objectives and effectively engage young
   people
   - Provide regular progress reports to the Learning Programme Coordinator
   to evaluate success of initiatives and flag up any issues arising
   - With the assistance of the Youth Support Worker, maintain appropriate
   records of all young people participating in the project, ensuring that
   course progress is fully recorded, including registration and monitoring
   information, Individual Learning Plans and Portfolios of learners work


   - Tutor participants aged 13-24 to develop their communication,
   journalistic and technical skills and enable them to present and produce
   their own radio shows
   - Work with the Learning Programmes Coordinator to ensure that training
   is delivered to as to meet agreed contract outputs
   - Ensure courses meet accreditation standards of a national awarding
   body (eg: Arts Award)
   - Run regular drop-in sessions to assist young people with preparation
   for their own radio shows
   - Work in partnership with Reprezent 107.3FM staff to create relevant
   and engaging content for broadcast, meeting content briefs as required
   - Assist the IAG Advisor in identifying and promoting access to
   progression opportunities to enable the young people to develop their new
   interests and skills.



*Person Specification*



*Essential*

   - Experience of working with young people (13-24) from deprived urban
   areas, in particular those not in education, employment or training (NEET)
   or from ‘hard to reach’ groups
   - Experience and knowledge of radio presenting, journalism and roles in
   the radio industry
   - Experience of teaching radio skills
   - Polished radio presenting technique
   - Knowledge of or aptitude for using digital audio editing software such
   as Adobe Audition
   - Ability to effectively supervise, guide young people and monitor their
   progress
   - An inspiring person able to identify, work with and develop the
   talents of individual young people



*Desirable *

   - Experience of tutoring young people or leading group activities
   - Working towards or holds a qualification in youth work
   - Experience of delivering accredited courses
   - Working towards or holds a qualification in teaching
   - A qualification in Radio or Journalism or a related Media qualification



*Attributes*

   - Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to deliver results
   in a pressured environment
   - Willing to undertake training in the post to fill in any gaps in radio
   knowledge
   - A friendly, honest team player with a passion for community radio and
   the benefits it can provide for the local community



As this role involves working with young people it will be subject to an
enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.



Tutors are expected to work on a self-employed basis and are therefore
responsible for the payment of their own taxes.
