[cma-l] Motion in Parliament for Awaz FM on its Birthday

Hi All

 

A small mention in Scottish Parliament and I guess every little helps the
sector of Community Radio... 

Our dear respected friend and colleague MSP Hanzala Malik said a few kind
words:

Motion S4M-09858: Hanzala Malik, Glasgow, Scottish Labour, Date Lodged:
29/04/2014

 

That the Parliament congratulates the radio station, Awaz FM, on its 12th
birthday; understands that the station, which was originally given a
one-year licence, first went live on 29 April 2002 with the first broadcast
made by Javed Ullah, who remains at the station; notes that "awaz" means
"voice" in both Urdu and Hindi and believes that the station has taken this
to its heart and has become the voice for the black and ethnic minority
communities in Glasgow and further afield; wishes Awaz FM a very happy
birthday, and looks forward to the next 12 years of what it considers the
station's superb multicultural broadcasting.
