 Job Introduction

BBC Radio 2, the most listened to station in the UK, combines popular music
and culture with a diverse range of specialist music, documentaries and
comedy. The station also boasts an award-winning blend of top name
presenters including Chris Evans, Simon Mayo, Steve Wright, Jeremy Vine,
Ken Bruce, Terry Wogan, Graham Norton, Dermot O'Leary, Johnnie Walker,
Claudia Winkleman and Paul O'Grady.

Jeremy Vine presents the weekday lunchtime show on BBC Radio 2. He is on
air Monday to Friday from midday until 2pm featuring news, views and live
guests.

Claudia Winkleman presents the weekly Arts Show on Friday evenings at 10pm.
It is a lively and unpretentious look at the latest films, plays, dance
events, books and exhibitions, alongside an eclectic selection of music.
  Role Responsibility

This placement will be Monday to Friday for four weeks working alongside
the Producers of the Jeremy Vine programme and the Radio 2 Arts Show. Tasks
will include preparing programme notes, answering calls from the public,
helping prepare audio, watching live programme broadcasts and working
alongside the programme team on other tasks.
  The Ideal Candidate

BBC Radio 2 is looking for applicants with a demonstrable interest in
broadcasting, journalism, news and the arts. In particular, you should
listen to BBC Radio 2 and have an awareness of the Jeremy Vine and Arts
Show. You should have good interpersonal skills. You will need to be highly
motivated, work well in a team and be adaptable. Knowledge of the internet
as well as IT skills would be advantageous. Please note that this is not a
placement for people who would like to gain on-air or presenting experience.
