Claire

As far as I am concerned, this is yet again another classic example of a
situation whereby something that is as simple and as straight forward as
''falling off a log'' is made complicated and nonsensical !?

My view/argument has always been the same from the outset .... Co-operative
/ Charity / Co Ltd by Guarantee .... all irrelevant ! the individuals
should be able to decide what they wish to be, if we are not, then the
'people empowered' bit of the debate goes out the window ....

It is exactly the same when it comes to restrictions ..... What we are, how
we operate and how we get the money should have no baring whatsoever on the
debate, providing of course none of it is morally wrong (if you catch my
drift)

For Gods sake, let people get on with the job in hand .... this Country is
swamped with nonsense and complications.

We become whatever we wish to be, we raise money and we SPEND that money on
what we are supposed to spend it on, and what we are legally bound to spend
it on.

As far as I am concerned ....... THAT'S IT = END OF ! SIMPLE !

Just a thought that's all. If you can sign off with confused Claire, I'll
sign off with frustrated / irritated -----------------------------

Nick keep smiling though :-)

Subject: [cma-l] Charity limited company

Stroud FM, currently a company limited by guarantee, is thinking about
becoming a charity limited company. Had a quick chat with OFCOM re
implications for our licence, which is held in the name of Stroud Community
Radio Limited and they said that we will have to keep the current ltd
company and set up the charity alongside, because the charity isn't a body
coperate. Then they suggesed I ask the CMA what other members do, so here I
am. However, I think a charity limited company is a body corporate? But, if
the licence is held by Stroud community Radio limited, does that mean we
still have to keep the company, or could the licence be transferred to the
charity limited company?

Yours, confused.

 Claire Penketh, Stroud FM
