1.1 The Community Radio Fund (“the Fund”) carried out two rounds of
grant awards in
the 2010/11 financial year (1 April 2010 to 31 March 2011).  The Department for
Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) allocated £463,000 towards the Fund for this
period.  Ofcom administers the Fund on behalf of DCMS and decisions on grant
applications are made by a panel which reports to the Ofcom Board.
Grants from the
Fund can only be made to community radio licensees to support core
costs incurred
in the provision of community radio services.

1.2 Applications for the first grant round opened on 14 April 2010 and
closed on 11 May
2010.  The Community Radio Fund Panel (“the Panel”) met on 28 June 2010 to
consider the applications.

1.3 The second funding round opened on 12 October 2010 and closed on 9 November
2010.  The Panel met on 24 January 2011 to consider the applications.
