Luciana Berger (Liverpool, Wavertree, Labour):

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport
for what reasons community radio organisations in Liverpool are
excluded from making applications for community radio licences in
2012-13.
Edward Vaizey (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Culture,
Communications and Creative Industries), Business, Innovation and
Skills; Wantage, Conservative):
++
Community radio organisations in Liverpool are not excluded from
applying for community radio licences in 2012-13. Applications for
licences from the north-west will be invited in the first half of
2013. While there are some areas of the north-west where Ofcom will be
unable to invite applications for FM licences, due to a lack of
available frequencies, Ofcom will consider at the time applications
are invited, whether capacity on MW might be available.
