BIG Launches Millennium Now Programme (UK)
The Big Lottery Fund, together with Channel 4 has launched the
Millennium Now programme. The programme is based on public feedback on
how £10 million of Lottery funding should be spent. Through the
programme, registered charities can apply for one of five grants of
between £1,500,000 and £2,000,000 for projects running over two years.
To be eligible applications must fit one of the following project types.
  These are:

Helping disadvantaged families to be healthy and live well;
Helping different generations to share their skills with each other;
Getting communities volunteering to address environmental issues;
Bringing communities together to tackle local issues; and
Helping disadvantaged young people to learn new career-based skills.

In addition successful applicants must meet all three of the following
outcomes:

     Creating stronger connections between people and communities
     Developing creative projects that have UK-wide relevance
     Communities are involved in designing and delivering projects

The journeys of the five organisations that receive funding from the
programme will be filmed by Channel 4 for a new five-part series which
will air in late-2012. Organisations that are thinking of applying will
need to show willingness to be filmed throughout the development of
their project as this is a key requirement of the programme.

The closing date for applications is the 13th December 2011. For more
