[cma-l] Funding News: London Mayor Launches New Volunteering Grant Scheme (London only)

London Mayor Boris Johnson has launched Team London, a programme
designed to encourage Londoners to take up volunteering.

The scheme, which has been supported by the Reuben Foundation, will
bring together community organisations to create opportunities for
young people and tackle crime by co-ordinating existing volunteering
activity and increasing people’s awareness of volunteering
opportunities.

The scheme is based on the successful American ‘Cities of Service’
model, initially trialled in New York and rolled out across the
country.

The Reuben Foundation has donated £2 million to the programme, which
will be matched by a further £2 million from the Mayor of London.
Additional funding is expected to be obtained from the private sector
and charitable foundations.
