PRESS RELEASE:

Resonance104.4fm, the self-proclaimed "world's first radio art
station" and Airtime, the open source radio software developed by
Sourcefabric, have announced a partnership that will see the two
organisations work together on new features and improvements for
Airtime.

Airtime 1.8.2 was released on Tuesday 14th June with 58 improvements
and bug fixes following training sessions and workshops held in London
in May. Resonance104.4fm and Sourcefabric will continue to work
together on developing Airtime which allows radio stations to manage,
automate and schedule their programmes remotely. Airtime is for Linux
platforms, but once installed can be controlled from anywhere using a
modern browser.

In addition, Resonance104.4fm are using Airtime as the playout system
behind their six week residency at Raven Row, London in June and July.
The station will be broadcasting, hosting workshops and live events,
and presenting an 'overhung' sound installation – the 'Resonance Open'
– with contributions solicited from local and international sound
artists. This contribution to the exhibition 'Gone With The Wind' is
set to further enhance the radio station's reputation. The Guardian
calls Resonance FM “the best radio station in London”; the Village
Voice, “the best radio station in the world”.

"We are looking forward to putting Airtime to the test, live on air,
over the coming months and leaving the playout system dark ages
behind," said Chris Weaver, Production Manager at Resonance104.4fm.

In the last month features such as integration with audio-sharing
platform SoundCloud, the ability for users to download audio, and a
Record-and-Rebroadcast function have all been implemented as a direct
result of input from Resonance104.4fm and other radio stations
worldwide.

"Airtime 1.8.2 is the most stable version of our radio software yet,"
said Sourcefabric's Managing Director Sava Tatić. "It is great to see
this global community grow and demonstrate that an exciting, free and
open source audio platform such as Airtime can be used in a wide range
of professional environments."

Airtime is the the free, open software that allows radio station to
manage, automate and schedule their programme remotely. Airtime is for
Linux platforms, but once installed can be controlled from anywhere
using a modern browser.
