Dear All

I think there would be an opportunity for a greater impact for the Gay
community in this Country if some of the stations shared programming. How
many independent gay stations do we have now in the fraternity ? I know of
3, but there could be more ...... I reckon it is an opportunity to go
'national' with the green light from Ofcom of course.

Just a thought

Regards

Nick

Subject: [cma-l] BCfm goes Gay for the day

Another first for Bristol and BCfm 93.2fm.......

A Shout Out to the Gay Community - on Bristol's Community radio station -
BCfm 93.2fm

Sat 9th July - ShoutOut BreakOut - on BCFM 93.2 and sponsored by Unite the
Union

This Saturday, the beginning of Bristol Pride week, BCfm 93.2's ShoutOut
show will be taking to the airwaves for a whole day of broadcasting aimed at
the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community and their
friends.

The day will be a mixture of music, guests and chat both serious and not so
serious! It will run from 10am - midnight on BCfm 93.2fm the community
station for Bristol where all the shows are made by volunteers. On an
average week you will hear about 45 different programmes being broadcast on
the station by many different types of people who represent an area, age,
religion, language, agency or just themselves! BCfm broadcasts in about nine
different languages and aims to represent the whole of Bristol and Bristol
life.

This Saturday is special because for the first time BCfm is devoting a whole
day to the LGBT community. The ShoutOut show has been broadcasting on BCfm
since June last year, starting in a half hour lunchtime slot and growing to
an hour long show which now broadcasts every Thursday at 7pm. ShoutOut has
built up a loyal listenership and recently broke the record for the most
downloaded show on the stations website ever - over two thousand downloads
for a one hour show!

You can listen to BCfm within Bristol on 93.2fm and also from anywhere with
an internet connection at <http://bcfm.org.uk> bcfm.org.uk.

This day has been made possible with sponsorship from Unite the Union
