Thanks, Ian. We are aware that this event is out of the reach of most if not
all community media projects.

However in return for a free place at the Convention - which we shall use to
further the interests of our sector - the CMA is contractually obliged to
promote the event.

Furthermore, not all subscribers to this list and our social network
presence are cash-strapped community radio projects and this event might be
of interest to them.

Thanks again

Bill Best

I wonder how many of the 207 cash-strapped CR stations will want to fork out
£265 for something in which they will have no say and will be able to read
about the next day?

OMC_2011.jpg

Dear friends

The CMA is delighted to be a marketing partner for the Oxford
<http://www.guardian.co.uk/oxfordmediaconvention/>  Media Convention 2011.
Now in its ninth year, the Oxford
<http://www.guardian.co.uk/oxfordmediaconvention/>  Media Convention returns
to the Saïd Business School <http://www.sbs.ox.ac.uk/> on 19 January 2011.

With the dawn of a new coalition government working under a clear mandate to
cut costs and stimulate growth, OMC
<http://www.guardian.co.uk/oxfordmediaconvention/>  2011 remains the
agenda-setting forum for senior government and industry figures to debate
the current and future challenges around domestic policy, regulation and
strategy for the media and creative industries.

Organised by the ippr <http://www.ippr.org.uk/> in partnership with
MediaGuardian <http://www.guardian.co.uk/media> , this year’s convention
will explore the regulatory challenges facing public and private entities as
they discuss and debate how to create an effective environment for growth
and provision within Britain’s creative industries.

This year's line-up of esteemed speakers includes:

*	Jeremy Hunt MP
<http://www.culture.gov.uk/about_us/our_ministers/7049.aspx> , secretary of
state, culture, Olympics, media and sport
*	Mark Thompson
<http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/biographies/biogs/executives/markthompson.
shtml> , director general, BBC
*	Ed <http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/edrichards>  Richards, chief
executive, Ofcom
*	Richard Allan, director of policy, EMEA, Facebook
*	David Elms, head of media, KPMG
*	Sam Conniff, founder, Livity/ Live Magazine
*	Ben Page, chief executive, Ipsos MORI

The CMA will be present at the Oxford
<http://www.guardian.co.uk/oxfordmediaconvention/>  Media Convention
representing the views of the community media sector.

There is a 10% discount for CMA members and mailing list subscribers - just
quote MP1 when booking to get it. The event is also CPD certified so
attendees can get points towards any relevant career development programme.

View the programme, further speakers and book your place at
