Dear All,

The simple way to sort out the problem is to set up a charity trust deed with four or more trustees from the station's management or board and register in the name of "Friends of ...(station name)". Within the objectives you state that you "support the charitable work of ...(station name)". Job done! there are various drafts of trust deeds available so shouldn't be too difficult. If your station also has company status (which you would need if you are full time) then you are set, commercial work through the company and any donations or charitable payments through the charity. Remember you can have anyone join as a "friend" all fees can be gift aided and you can claim certain services VAT free.

We at WCR have operated this way for over 12 years.
