Someone raised a point about this being in London only, so I raised it with Ofcom and got the following reply:-

'There will be workshops outside of London, however these are being held in Belfast, Cardiff and Glasgow on '3, 10 and 17 March 2010. Ofcom's National Offices will be inviting the relevant stakeholders.'

Hope this is of some use.

Richard

Dear Stakeholder

OFCOM BROADCASTING CODE WORKSHOPS: SECTION TEN (COMMERCIAL COMMUNICATIONS IN RADIO PROGRAMMING) - TUESDAY 1 MARCH 2011

On 20 December 2010, Ofcom implemented a new set of Rules (Section Ten of the Code), and issued associated guidance, concerning commercial communications in radio programming. This is one of the most significant changes in the regulation of commercial radio broadcast content in the last decade.

We will therefore be running two workshops - at 10:00 and 13:00 - about the changes Ofcom has made. These will take place on 1 March 2011 at our Head Office:

Riverside House
2a Southwark Bridge Road
London
SE1 9HA
Each workshop will outline:

*         why the rules have changed;

*         what they permit;

* how to comply with them; and

* what they mean for you, the broadcaster.

We anticipate ample opportunity for attendees' questions.

Commercial radio broadcasters are invited to attend the 10:00 workshop.

Community radio and long-term RSL broadcasters are invited to attend the 13:00 workshop.

Each workshop is expected to last approximately 2 hours and all broadcasters are invited to a sandwich lunch, which will be provided at around 12:00.

As past workshops have proved popular, we are currently limiting numbers to two attendees in response to each invitation. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Should you and/or other representatives of your organisation wish to attend, please reply to this email by no later than 15 February 2011, providing details of:

*         who will attend;

*         which session they will attend;

* whether they will join us for lunch; and

* whether you would like to be contacted again if additional places become available.

Please note that Ofcom's National Offices are inviting relevant stakeholders to similar workshops, to be held in Belfast, Cardiff and Glasgow on 3, 10 and 17 March 2010, respectively.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards
Georgina
