Claire
We actually had the service with all the logins etc etc but never used it.
Our traffic reports are not brilliant but like others, we are on a
make-do-scenario at present. Quite fascinating though how someone can come
down from £1000 to £250 in an instance ??? thats got to be one
the best Ive seen this year LOL :-)
Anyone signing up for the grand package must have either taken leave of
their senses or was wanting to be seriously taken for a ride (pardon the
pun) or both !
When our funding gets better, we may have a tickle at a later date, for now
we will simply have to soldier on
. were in the rural outback of
North East Cheshire, most people have Horse n Carts, Pony and Traps and
Tricycles round here
.. we only discovered the wheel 3 years ago ! :-)
Regards
Nick

Trafficlink's Cat Kobylinski in action.
We have listened...
We emailed you in June to inform you of the Highways Agency's decision to
cease funding to provide the Traffic Radio audio and Trafficlink's "Regis"
data service to members of the CMA. The funding and service will stop from
the 31st of August.
The response that we received from you was that you really value the service
and that you would like it to continue; we want to support community radio
and although we looked for alternative funding, in the current climate I am
sure you will appreciate how difficult this has been.
Although work continues to find alternative funding, we have taken many of
your comments on board about how to provide you with a service that was
affordable.
Previously we have offered access to Trafficlink's "Regis" service for
£1,000 per year, a significant reduction to the commercial cost, but many of
you have told us that is still not realistic for you.
We know that your listeners rely on you to provide excellent, local travel
news and we feel that GTN and Trafficlink are the only provider that is able
to give you the granular service that you and your listeners need.
With that in mind, we are happy to announce that we have significantly
reduced the cost of Trafficlink's "Regis" service to just £250 a year. This
is currently only open to existing customers.
To ensure that you receive a continuous service past the 31st of August,
contact Clare Stiles at GTN for more information.

The Service
The fee gives you continued access to travel information 24 hours a day.
This covers:
* live, real time traffic information for all roads, not
just motorways and key trunk roads. We know that this is important to you as
you run a local station, so you need to be able to provide information on
all local routes
* live and planned information on public transport
* you will receive information bespoke to your relevant
area as decided by you.
* information about roadworks and planned events in your
area
All this will be delivered to you in a radio friendly format which means
that your presenters can read it directly from the screen with little to no
prep time required. This information is delivered through the same service
as commercial and BBC radio stations receive it; through Regis - the radio
industry standard.
There is no need to credit Trafficlink or GTN within your traffic bulletins
or provide airtime in exchange for the service. We know that some community
stations cannot play advertisements.
There are no exclusivity constraints about where you get your travel
informational from, so you are free to supplement it with listener generated
information if you choose.
We know that some of you use the audio reports that have been provided by
Traffic Radio, unfortunately these reports will not continue after the 31st
of August as Traffic Radio will cease broadcasting.

The information
Trafficlink have the most comprehensive network of sources to gather traffic
and travel information from. This includes,
* over 5,000 traffic and CCTV cameras
* over 100,000 vehicle sensors which are fed directly in
real time into Regis in a radio friendly format
* every UK Police force
* highways authorities
* more than 80,000 radio "jamline" eyewitness callers a
year
In an average month Trafficlink report on:
* 48,079 live road incidents across the UK
* 8,849 live public transport incidents across the UK
Trafficlink voice 13,500 traffic and travel bulletins each week. We
understand radio and what your needs are.
